In leadership, just like in life, we encounter ups and downs that challenge our resolve and test our endurance. However, when we approach these fluctuations with a mindset that embraces every twist and turn, we can lead with greater authenticity and resilience. In this blog, I’ll share insights from my own experiences on how to maintain steady energy, embrace both highs and lows, and lead effectively, drawing on deeper principles of consciousness and perception.
Leadership and the Rollercoaster Ride
When I visit a fun park and choose a rollercoaster, I’m there to enjoy the entire experience—not just the exhilarating climbs but also the inevitable drops. Leadership is much like that rollercoaster ride, full of highs and lows. The key to effective leadership is to stop identifying one as better than the other and instead embrace the entire journey as part of your growth.
In leadership, our tendency to label experiences as "good" or "bad" can limit our ability to see the bigger picture. By recognizing that both the highs and lows are essential parts of the journey, we open ourselves up to deeper understanding and personal evolution. This perspective aligns with the idea that our perceptions shape our reality; by transcending dualistic thinking, we can maintain steady energy and avoid the emotional rollercoaster that often comes with leadership challenges.
Steady Leadership Energy: The Power of Perspective
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in leadership is how to maintain steady energy, regardless of what life or leadership throws at me. Whether I’m on stage or in any leadership role, you’ll never see me at a lower level of energy, no matter what I’m facing. At 51 years old, I’ve mastered the art of holding that energy non-stop, and it’s not because I don’t encounter challenges—it’s because I’ve learned to see those challenges as part of the leadership journey.
This steady energy comes from understanding that the external world is not the source of our inner experience. Instead, our internal state determines how we perceive and respond to external circumstances. By shifting our focus from external events to our internal responses, we can remain centered and maintain high energy levels, no matter what the day brings. This isn’t about forcing positivity but about understanding that challenges and obstacles are catalysts for growth, ultimately leading us to higher levels of consciousness and leadership effectiveness.
Leadership and Perception: Shaping Your Internal Reality
In leadership, understanding the nature of perception is crucial. Here’s a fundamental insight: reality as we experience it is not an absolute truth but a reflection of our internal state. We have the power to shape our perception of reality, and by doing so, we can influence our emotional state and leadership style.
This concept emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and the ability to choose how we interpret and respond to the events in our lives. Instead of letting external circumstances dictate our mood or energy, we can take charge of our internal narrative. By recognizing that our internal state is within our control, we empower ourselves to lead with clarity, calmness, and confidence, even in the face of adversity.
Embracing the Present in Leadership
No matter where you are in the world or what you’re going through, there’s one simple truth: the present moment is the only place you can be. As leaders, it’s easy to get caught up in regrets about the past or worries about the future, but true leadership involves being fully present and engaged in the here and now.
Embracing the present means accepting that every moment, whether high or low, is an opportunity for growth and learning. By focusing on the present, we can lead more effectively, make better decisions, and connect more deeply with those we lead. This approach aligns with the principle that true power comes from within, and it’s in the present moment that we access our greatest potential as leaders.
Conclusion: Leadership on Life’s Rollercoaster
Life’s rollercoaster ride is full of surprises, with its share of ups and downs. But by shifting our perspective, we can learn to enjoy the entire ride, rather than just waiting for the highs or dreading the lows. Maintaining steady energy, understanding the power of our perceptions, and embracing the present moment are key to effective leadership.
The next time you find yourself in a low point, remember that it’s just another part of the ride, preparing you for the next high. And when you’re on a high, savor it, knowing that it’s all part of the same thrilling experience. By embracing the rollercoaster of life and leadership, you’ll find that both the ups and the downs are opportunities for growth, learning, and leading with authenticity.
So, wherever you are, and whatever you’re going through, embrace where you are. It’s the only place you can be at that time, and it’s all part of the ever-unfolding journey of leadership.
Your thoughts?
The inside energy level is completely my choice and the choice I make, will define me. Being on high level of energy will bring joy to my self and to others.
Labeling the up as "good" and the down as "bad" is how you allow them to control your state. Instead embracing the journey. Accept they will come, and stop over emotionalising them... until you do that, you will be a slave to the ups and downs.
Being able to revisit these posts is a gift! “our internal state determines how we perceive and respond to external circumstances.” Understand this and learn to master maintaining steady energy. It’s often the unmet expectations of myself and the frustration that leads to a loss of energy. Not the external circumstance itself 🤯

Every up and down is just part of the journey, learning how to embrace it and see what we can take from it is key.
Maintaining the same energy no matter what is essential for a good leadership ☄️
"Instead of letting external circumstances dictate our mood or energy, we can take charge of our internal narrative." This really speaks to me. Our inner strength can guide us through the ups and downs of leadership. By focusing on how we respond inside, we can stay steady and true to ourselves, no matter what challenges we face.
